Largest Body Of Water In The Universe Discovered In Space: 140 Trillion Times The Size Of Our Oceans

massive body of water found in space

July 23, 2011]------ NASA recently wrapped up its 30 year shuttle program but there are still much to be done and discovered as is proven by this fascinating find.

You don't have to be a science buff to appreciate the wonderous complexities of our vast, mostly uncharted universe.

Two teams of astronomers at the Z-Space Instrument at California's Institute of Technology's Submillimeter Observatory in Hawaii and the Plateau de Bure Interferometer in the French Alps --have made a remarkable discovery: a massive body of water 12 billion light years away.

Named "APM 08279+5255," this giant body of aqua is said to be the largest and most distant reservoir ever detected in the universe, at 140 trillion times the size of all of our oceans combined.

Gulp!

This awe-inspiring find opens up that age-old question we have long searched for and fantasized about in our many movies and television series: aliens. Life out there beyond the stars galaxies, giant black holes and all.

What do you think this means for space exploration?
