Ten people shot at a low rider car show in WA

At least 10 shot

Going out to a car show Saturday became a dangerous event when ten people were shot in Kent, WA after a fight broke out, according to The Seattle Times.

Spectators of the show became so frightened they ran for cover into local merchant's buildings while the staff of the shops crouched or locked themselves in a back room.

A business owner said she saw two men fighting earlier and was intimidated by their rowdy behavior.

The car show had hundreds in attendance thoughout the day in a parking lot.

One shooter shot into the crowd from the front of the La Plaza shopping center.

“First I heard like six shots, then they kept going,” said Alejandro Lara, a witness. He said he saw only one man shooting at the crowd in the parking lot.

No arrests have been made as of Saturday night and it is unclear how many shooters there were, according to authorities.

“People were leaving as we were coming, and victims were our first priority,” said Kent Police Sgt. Jarod Kasner.

Six men and two women were checked into Harborview Medical Center and all had non-life threatening injuries which were on the foot, leg, and chest--the injured ranged in age from 14 to 32, according to spokeswoman Susan Gregg.

“They’re all in satisfactory condition,” she said. “All conscious and talking.”

Other individuals who were injured went to other facilities but one person refused treatment, according to King 5 News.

There were about 50 cars being displayed at the show and bands were slated to perform.

It took only an hour to clear the show as spectators sped off leaving evidence of the chaos behind with cans and bottles scattered everywhere.
